First, you will need an ssh client on your home computer. An example is PuTTY - a widely distributed free ssh client.

The default options shold not need to be altered to succesfully connect to your RedHat server for the first time.

Simply open putty and enter in the main IP address of your server into the 'Hostname (or IP address)' field. (The default port for SSH is 22, but can be changed on the server once the first connection is made), and click Open.

The RedHat server should prompt you for a username and password, at which time you can enter your root user/pass information for the server.

You can save the connection details (ip address and port) into Sessions so that the information does not have to be entered in repeatedly. Simply enter the IP address and port as you normally would, Enter a title for those connection properties such as "My Server" and click Save.

Now when you go to connect to your server, you need only highlight the saved session and click Open.

You can connect to your server via the Public Network or through the SSL VPN on via the Private Network. To connect via the Private Network, simply follow the instructions inside the portal on how to connect to the VPN and then SSH to your private IP address
