HPC Host offers servers based on VMware. VMware offers complete flexibility, security and capacity, as well as options for high availability, load balancing and disaster recovery. A basic difference between VMware and Virtuozzo is that VMware creates individual virtual servers directly on the hardware, at a bare metal level, while Virtuozzo’s containers run at the operating system (OS) level.
Linux on VMware allows the admin to customize and apply securtiy updates to the OS as there are no limitations, unlike Virtuozzo and other systems which give limited control of the Windows OS and require all updates to be at the same level for each VPS

How do I reboot my Server?
You can reboot, start and shutdown your server using the Virtual Dedicated Hosting Manager. 1. Log in to your Account Manager. 2. In the Virtual Dedicated Server section, click View Details . 3. Under Your server details, click Reboot.
What kind of performance can I expect from the VMWare VPS?
Performance is on par with a dedicated machine of the same processsor class and speed. VMware's overhead is quite low and uses only a few percent of the processing ability of our multiprocessor servers. Although the server hardware is shared across multiple Virtual machines. We do not oversell resources.
What is your Data Center infrastructure for the VMware enviroment?
All of our equipment from servers, storage, switching, and routing gear is all run on Redundant A+B power. Each A and B power circuit are backed up by seperate UPS's and seperate generators ensuring there are no power failures. Also all of our equipment is cooled by mutiple redundant Cooling units ensuring maximum uptime.

What is NetApp (Network Appliance) Clustered Storage and how does it protect my data from failure?
NetApp Storage is one of the highest performing Enterprise storage systems on the market.
Our storage infrastructure uses NetApp Clustered Systems so that if one of the controllers were to have a failure the other controller would take over in its place and continue to serve the storage needs of the VMware enviroment without any downtime.
To further protect our customer's data we also have Snapshot and Tape Backup solutions integrated with our NetApp storage.
How is bandwidth measured?

For Our VPS Servers we run Netflow collection hardware to determine your bandwidth usage across your assigned IP's.
Dedicated Servers

Bandwidth overages are billed at $0.10 per GB. If you exceed twice the amount of bandwidth you are allotted, we will automatically charge you for excess bandwidth used at the time. If you exceed your allotment by less than twice the allowance, the overages will be added to your next monthly invoice.

Yes we offer unmetered bandwidth on all our Dedicated Servers. All unmetered servers are on dedicated ports not shared with any other customers.
How long does it take for a requested reinstall to be provisioned?
It can take anywhere from 15 min to 48 hours. We can by special request leave your current server running while we provision you a new server and allow you a grace period to copy your data over.
